Philip Harvey

Principal Environmental Geochemist, Director

Philip has over 20 years experience in the performance of environmental and contaminated site audits, investigations and remediation, both in the United Kingdom and Australia. Philip’s expertise is in the remediation and the performance of multi-site soil and groundwater investigation programs; the development and implementation of remedial action plans; Determination of Environmental Risks for Due Diligence and Pre-acquisition; the identification and quantification of potential environmental risks using the RBCA and BPRisc framework; regulatory compliance; health and safety management and the planning of petrochemical plant decommissioning, and demolition works.

This experience has included working within many different industrial sectors including petrochemical refineries, historical herbicide plants, petroleum retail, mining, waste and landfills, rail, building, steel, defence and historical and live gas works and rail facilities, plus many other light industrial and commercial organisations.

MARK Easton

Principal Environmental Engineer

Mark has 25 years of extensive experience in environmental investigations and remediation programs undertaken for government and corporate clients for a diverse range of industries. In particular, these included hydrogeological investigations, soil, sludge, sediment and groundwater contamination assessments and remedial works in most states in Australia. In addition, he has managed numerous statutory environmental audits in Victoria for proposed residential developments and undertaken pre-acquisition and divestment investigations for due diligence and asset management.

Mark has also conducted production bore testing and investigation of hydrogeological parameters, geotechnical investigations and laboratory and in-situ testing of soil and rock properties, slope stability and terrain analysis as well as geotechnical investigations for foundations, road pavements and tailings dams.

Mark’s experience in corporate planning, stakeholder liaison and project management and quantifying environmental risk and liability. He has extensive experience with development and implementation of site remediation and waste management programs (including acid sulfate soils), sampling, quality and analytical plans, construction environmental management plans, site management plans, remediation actions plans, and health and safety plans.

Mark holds a Masters of Engineering Science (Hydrogeology) from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Engineering (Geological) from RMIT University, Melbourne. Mark is a Member and Chartered Professional Engineer on the National Professional Engineers Register, Engineers Australia (Environmental & Civil).

BILL HOWCROFT

Principal Hydrogeologist

Dr Bill Howcroft is a hydrogeologist with more than 20 years experience conducting projects within both Australia and the United States. This experience includes the assessment and remediation of soil and groundwater, mining works, the design, installation and testing of groundwater bore networks, the evaluation of potable water supplies in remote, indigenous communities, dye tracing of karst groundwater, PFAS investigations, landfill closure and assessment activities, environmental impact assessments, environmental audits, and mathematical and geochemical modelling.

Dr Howcroft recently completed his PhD in hydrogeology at Monash University in Clayton, Victoria, where he employed aqueous geochemistry and environmental isotopes to better understand the residence times of groundwater and solutes in the Barwon and Gellibrand river catchments of western Victoria.

ALAN WATSON


Senior Environmental Field Engineer

Alan has over 24 years experience in environmental instrumentation and monitoring and 20 years experience in oceanographic physics and underwater electronics and remote operated vehicles.

Alan’s expertise is in the design and implementation of environmental sampling and monitoring, including soil, water, leachate and gas and the design and maintenance of sampling and monitoring equipment and remediation systems, via local and telemetry systems.

This experience has included working within many different industrial sectors across the world including oil field, mining and Antarctic research.

Alan joined ESG Environmental to enhance and develop the sampling, monitoring and remediation systems capability of the organisation.

SIMON TRAVERS


Environmental Geologist

Simon is an Environmental Geologist with more than 7 years of professional experience in geotechnical, environmental and mining assessments, data collection and analysis and project management. Simon has worked across most of Australia.

Simon has experience in the design and implementation of exploratory programs for mining, environmental projects, hydrogeological studies and use of various software packages for the analysis of spatial environmental and geological data.

ANNABEL JEFFRIES

Senior Environmental Scientist

Annie has over 5 years experience with ESG. She graduated with a BSc major in Biochemistry from the University of Western Australia.

Annie has undertaken field site work including groundwater and soil sampling, microbiological sampling and asbestos air monitoring. She also provides office assistance by processing sample results, producing figures, writing report letters for microbiological testing, waste classification and groundwater assessments.

LAURA HUMPHRIES

Senior Environmental Scientist

Laura has 5 years of diversified experience as an environmental consultant in contaminated land assessment and management as well as work health and safety.

Throughout her professional career, Laura has gained a thorough understanding of all aspects of environmental assessment, including project planning and design, project management, fieldwork and data collection, and data assessment and interpretation. Laura’s clients have included federal and state government bodies including Department of Defence, the mining industry, petroleum industry, waste management facilities, industrial facilities, as well as providing support on numerous site audits.

LUCY BURT

Graduate Environmental Scientist

Lucy has a Double Batchelor Degree in Environmental Science/Environment and Society from RMIT University.

Lucy undertakes field site work and provides office assistance by processing sample results and producing figures.
